Approvals and Certification

ETA certification – CE marking
The reinforced waterproofing membrane of the Triflex BTS-P, BTS-T and BBS waterproofing and surfacing systems for walkways, balconies and terraces (Triflex ProTerra®) is tested and certified under ETAG 005 -  Liquid Applied Waterproofing Membranes issued by the European Organisation for Technical Approvals (EOTA). Products are deemed fit for their intended use if they comply with the relevant European  Technical Approval. A construction product with an ETA, can carry CE marking and can be placed on the  market in any EU member state.

Fire resistance

UK standard
  • BS476:Part3:1958
The Triflex BWS system is certified under BS476:Part 3 – External fire exposure roof test and achieve the highest rating – EXT.F.AA.

European standards

Triflex ProTerra® the reinforced waterproofing component of the Triflex BTS-P, BTS-T and BBS systems and Triflex ProDetail® the detail  waterproofing system for all Triflex systems for walkways, balconies and terraces have been successfully tested under the three test methods prescribed under pr ENV 1187 / pr EN 13501-5:

  • German Standard – Test method 1
  • Nordic Standard – Test method 2
  • French Standard – Test method 3
The Triflex BFS systems and the wearing layers for the Triflex BTS-P systems have been successfully tested under:
  • EN ISO-11925-2:2002
  • EN ISO-9239-1:2002
Although not currently a regulatory requirement for products in the UK, the testing confirms our commitment to ensuring that our systems  achieve the highest levels of safety.

Factory Mutual (FM) / Underwriters Laboratories (UL)
Should the client require an FM or UL approved solution, the ‘Heavily trafficked roof’ variants of our FM / UL certified roofing systems may be  used for walkways, balconies and terraces. For further information please refer to the roofing section of our website.

Root resistance
Should balcony or terrace areas need to incorporate green roof areas, all Triflex roofing systems are certified under the German FLL guidelines which have been the only source of reliable information for designers of green roofs for the last 15 years.
