4 Excellent Terrace Waterproofing System Case Studies

A terrace can be a great asset to any building, whether it's a commercial space, a residential block, or school. It provides valuable outdoor space for work, study or relaxation. But a terrace is also constantly exposed to the harsh elements, and without the right protection, it can fall victim to water damage, leading to leaks, structural issues, and a host of other problems.

That's where a high-quality waterproofing system comes in. Let’s explore seven compelling case studies that highlight the versatility and effectiveness of Triflex’s waterproofing systems.

St Agnes School, Manchester

Triflex Excellent Terrace Waterproofing System Case Studies St Agnes School

When St Agnes School in Manchester needed to refurbish a warm terrace, safety and durability were top priorities. The roof terrace area serves as an outdoor learning zone, and the new terrace roofing system needed to address thermal improvements and provide better drainage.

We proposed our Trifelx ProTerra Insulated system, with a tapered insulation scheme. The bespoke design of the insulation scheme and recessed box gulleys cleverly addresses the challenging limitations of access points and doorways. The result is a safe, attractive, and long-lasting terrace that will serve the school community for years to come. Read more about this project.

Ouseburn Quay, Newcastle-upon-Tyne

Triflex Excellent Terrace Waterproofing System Case Studies Ouseburn Quay

Ouseburn Quay is a stunning new-build residential development with a variety of outdoor spaces, including terraces, a podium, as well as blue and green roof build ups. This complex project required a versatile waterproofing solution that could handle different roof build-ups and overburdens.

Triflex was up to the challenge, providing a combination of Triflex ProTerra and Triflex ProTect systems. These systems were used to waterproof everything from the main roof areas to the terraces and the green roof, ensuring seamless protection across the entire development. The fast-curing nature of our PMMA-based systems meant the work could be completed on schedule, even with the unpredictable British weather. Read more about this project here.

The Point Business Centre, Nottingham

Triflex Excellent Terrace Waterproofing System Case Studies The Point Business Centre

The Point Business Centre had an existing asphalt terrace that was showing its age. Water ingress was becoming a problem, and the surface was looking tired and worn. With failing timber deck, a fresh approach was required. With limitations for upstand heights a new rapid curing screed, Triflex ProScreed together with the Triflex ProTerra with Quartz Design system was the perfect choice.

Both are ultra fast-curing, meaning the terrace was back in use in no time, with minimal disruption to the businesses in the building. Read more about this project.

St Sidwells point, Exeter

Triflex Excellent Terrace Waterproofing System Case Studies St Sidwell's Point

In this revolutionary Passivhaus leisure centre project, a terrace roof area utilised a buried Triflex ProTerra Insulated HD system. The tapered roof consisted of four hips and two valleys with the tapered insulation scheme falling in multiple ways. The rigid topping of the PIR board and heavy-duty finish provided robust surface for the paving overburden, creating a flat area for use.
