Emirates Stadium, London
The Emirates Stadium, home to Arsenal Football Club, required a durable waterproofing solution to address issues with its existing roof. Triflex ProTect and Triflex ProDetail systems provided a seamless overlay that ensured long-term protection without the need for removal of the in-situ 27,000m2 single ply memrbrane. The iconic Royal Albert Hall underwent a significant refurbishment to address water ingress issues. Triflex ProTect and Triflex ProDetail were specified to overlay the existing asphalt roof, incorporating expansion joints to accommodate the building's natural movements. Captain Cook, Middlesbrough
In 2017, Triflex was invited to survey a deteriorating 6,500m² PVC single-ply roof at Captain Cook Square, Middlesbrough. After extensive testing, including core sampling and adhesion tests, it was confirmed that the existing insulation was sound and the roof could be overlaid using Triflex ProTect - avoiding full removal. The cold-applied, rapid-curing system proved compatible with the aged membrane and ideal for winter installation. Triflex also specified specialist detailing products for complex areas. Potter's Quay, Belfast
The original single-ply roof at Potter’s Quay Business Centre in Belfast was showing signs of wear, prompting the need for a cost-effective, long-term waterproofing solution. Instead of a full replacement, Triflex proposed an overlay using their Triflex ProTect system, which significantly reduced disruption, installation time, and costs. After surveying the roof, only 20% of the insulation needed replacing, avoiding a full thermal upgrade and preserving the roof’s design profile. Royal Observatory, Edinburgh
The failing asphalt roof at the Royal Observatory in Edinburgh was restored using the Triflex ProTect cold liquid-applied waterproofing system, chosen for its proven performance and rapid curing. Following tests, Triflex ProTect, Triflex ProDetail, and Triflex ProFibre were approved for the roof, upstands, and penetrations. Damaged areas were quickly repaired using Triflex PMMA products, allowing for a fast, zonal application with minimal disruption. The system’s anti-slip quartz finish and cold-weather suitability ensured safe, year-round application without altering the historic structure, thanks to its self-terminating, thixotropic formula that avoided the need for invasive cutting.
