Rainham School for Girls case study

The 1,576m² flat roof to the main school building featured a felt and asphalt waterproofing system that was beginning to allow water to ingress. If allowed to continue the water could potentially cause structural damage to the building and pose a health and safety risk to the school, the pupils and staff.

Following a condition survey, the beach chalets at Meadfoot were identified as reaching the end of their useful life and required urgent repairs. Torquay Council concluded that these repairs were uneconomical, and took the decision to demolish them and replace them with a new two-storey complex consisting of 133 chalets.
